Certification Changes and Updates

As summer arrives, it brings with it the chance to look at what is happening in the certification world and see what additions and changes vendors are making to their programs. While no one has yet issued a MySpace or FaceBook certification, they can’t be far behind. Rather than focus on certifications of short duration and limited worth, however, the following are some of the key changes that principal vendors are rolling out.

Cisco

A large number of exams are retired and being replaced by newer versions that focus on the latest technologies; a complete listing of these can be found at http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/le11/learning_all_certification_exams_list.html. Cisco, through Cisco Press, continues to put out some of the best self-study products in the market and the need to attend training center classes to fully understand what you will be tested on has all but vanished.<>
