Certification: An Updated Look at the LPIC-1 Exams
by Emmett Dulaney
Over the past several years, the discussion of no other certification program has continually generated as much email as the discussion of the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) Level One exams. To become certified at this level (LPIC-1), you must pass two exams (101 and 102). The newest versions were released in 2002, and I provided tables then that matched up what you need to know with reference sites for finding that information. Over the years, many of those reference sites have changed or ceased to exist. In an attempt to keep the information current, although the topics have not changed, the tables below offer current sites where you can find the information needed to pass the questions on each of the topics.ý The first table looks at exam 101, while the second offers the same information for exam 102.

Ada and the Language Renaissance A renaissance in computer language design has allowed "little" languages like Ruby and Lisp to accumulate large, active communities of developers that continue to discover new uses for these technologies. Ada is another language that has benefitted from grassroots-level development. The result: Ada 2005.
